Watch Peter Jackson’s Second Hobbit Video Blog from the Set
Almost three months after posting his first Video Blog from the set (you can watch again at the end of the article), Peter Jackson, who will not present Hobbit at Comic-Con this year, uploaded the second video. Andy Serkis, made famous with his Gollum impersonation, is directing the second unit for this movie in addition to his role, and one thing is sure, these two men are tired.
Jackson explains in the video that they divided the shooting in three blocks with holidays between each block for the cast and crew to rest while he would start the pre-production of the next block and the post-production of the fist block. The atmosphere within the team seems to still be light-spirited but you can also feel the intensity of the production on Jackson and the crew’s shoulders.
The crew wears t-shirts with a count down of the number of days left before final wrap. As you can see from the picture above, at the time the video was shot there were still 200 working days left. Oh, boy.
The video has some breathtaking landscapes and it’s inspiring to look at Jackson and his crew (and his five helicopters) walking in the wild, looking for the perfect places to tell the story.
Enjoy the video and let’s see when the next one will come around!
