‘Coriolanus’ Trailer: Kick Ass Title
It is a delight to watch Coriolanus trailer, Ralph Fiennes directorial debut, that will open December 2nd in the US and in January 2012 in the UK.
Keeping the premise of the Shakespearean play but transposing it into a contemporary and dystopian world, the trailer gives away just enough to indicate that Fiennes left space for strong performances all the while rejuvenated the setting, making it accessible to a broader audience.
My favorite moment of the trailer, and the reason why I decided to share it, is the title sequence, with its unexpected but perfect marriage of an “After-Effect-action-packed-reveal” effect and the apparition below it of “by William Shakespeare”, when you usually see a famous director or producer’s name appearing.
Here lays the beauty of Coriolanus’ trailer, giving back to Shakespeare its strongest power: timelessness.
To celebrate my lyricism -and as a proof of my good faith- I made my first .gif (you know, the mean of expression unofficially reserved to teenagers).
