[TGWTDT] Nashville and Santa Fe Score Flowers. The Rest of the World Waits For More.
And so it is, just like I didn’t say it would be.
A full week has passed since the last treasure hunt and Mouth Taped Shut finally uploaded a picture (see above) containing a clue this morning at 10am PST for Santa Fe and twitted at 10h25 a second clue revealing that the second flower of the day was in Nashville.
SANTA FE – CLUE # 13
From the picture above, that didn’t have any tagg besides the traditional photo on Mouth Taped Shut, the word to find was murder as in ‘a murder of crows‘:
Once added to What Is Hidden In Snow Website, you discovered got that:
I don’t have much to add for Santa Fe. The flower has been found and I’m waiting to see if the hunter will contact me or share on the Net details.
NASHVILLE – CLUE # 12
Nashville clue was share via MTS twitter account:
Turned out that the cipher was a random code created with a letter replacement system:
The sentence was specter definition, which revealed that Nashville was the second city:
Am I about to complain?
Of course I am.
From the beginning of this campaign I have been bugged by MTS inconsistent posting that has now transformed a virtuous circle into a vicious one. Some of you have objected that if they were posting everyday at the same time there wouldn’t be any surprise, and that they shouldn’t make it too easy or too hard for us to find their clues. And I 100% agree with you about that.
But today, after seeing two miserable clues coming our way, including a random cipher after 7 painful days spent refreshing every possible pages linked to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, I started realizing what was one of my problem. (you may disagree, and that’s fine.)
Good storytelling is made of speed and weed.
I’m paraphrasing a former teacher of mine that used this catchy sentence to help us understand that there is balance to find in a narrative so the audience can feel and live through the story to its maximum capacity. And this balance is to be found between speed (codes have to been deciphered to unlock prizes hidden in cities all over the world for a limited time), and weed (pictures and articles related to the promoted movie are posted to feed our dependence and keep us alert).
I believe MTS/TGWTDT should have overflowed us with random pictures instead of depriving us of weed, because creating a dependance and then ignoring it can provoke serious backlash. It would have been much more pleasant to discover dozens of new pictures everyday (and I’m certain they don’t lack pictures) so even if there wasn’t any clue, a positive conversation could have grown between followers and hope would have been maintained with soft drug.
But how is this campaign supposed to touch a broader audience and grow if they stay silent for a week, barely posting pictures and sometimes not posting anything at all?
Now with all that said, I would love them to prove me wrong and start going crescendo again.
To be continued…
