GoPro announced at NAB 12 that it partnered with Technicolor to launched a CineStyle-like firmware named Protune, that will give to the HD Hero 2 footage the additional capacities (from GoPro’s website):
- 24fps frame rate, enabling GoPro HERO2 content to be easily intercut with other sources without a frame rate conversion;
- 35Mbps data rate for the industry’s highest quality compressed image with virtually zero artifacts;
- Neutral color profile, allowing for greater flexibility in a color correction workflow;
- Log curve encoding, offering more detail in shadows and highlights;
- Reduced sharpening and noise reduction for improved flexibility in professional post- production and color design workflows

Hey, I was trying to download the update. Seems that it’s not out until summer. Have you gotten it yet? If you did, how?

Yes, I put the link and explained how you can download the firmware at the end of the article. You need to subscribe to GoPro’s newsletter, it will open a link to download.
Hope it helps.

I downloaded and installed via your link. It does not appear to be Protune. No 35MB/s, no 24p etc. Please confirm you have downloaded and used Protune Firmware.

I had downloaded it but didn’t have the chance to install it on my GoPro. After your comment I looked into it, and you are right, Protune has been announced in April but will be out this summer.
I’ve been misled and misled you I’m afraid. Sincere apologies for that, all was done with good intentions, and thank you for noticing the mistake and letting me know!
