The Last Hobbit Video Before Film Premieres: It’s Post-Production Craziness Time
The final V-log from Peter Jackson and his hilarious A-team hit the net two days ago and, once again, doesn’t disappoint. In 14 minutes you will get an overview of The Hobbit post-production’s workflow and the usual jokes that make you feel Jackson’s universe looks a lot like (my fantasized version of) Pixar‘s.
It is amazing how much of a key contributor Peter Jackson has become to the filmmakers community. I appreciate (and love actually) the fact that he embraced so perfectly the new communication tools available to reach out to the widest audience possible and maintain a constant link with his fans.
The dozens of hours added to the LOTR DVDs were my first window to an in-depth making-of of not only a blockbuster, but also of a fantasy movie.
In five years the world has changed so much that now these bonuses we used to pay a lot of money to be able to watch, are not only free and online but are also shared before the movie is even out.

Finally, it is worth noting that Jackson is the only directors from the blockbusters’ playground that takes an indie approach when it comes to promoting his coming work. Might be because of the way his career started. Steven Spielberg, James Cameron, Michael Bay, John Favreau and all that jazz don’t bother. Might be the end of a generation…
