It is not the first time that long takes are under the spotlight on mentorless.
We have seen before how Paul Thomas Anderson and Alfonso Cuaron were using long takes through, respectively, a filmography or a particular movie, and now Larry Wright, the man behind The Long Takes in Children of Men video is back with a 10 minute video showcasing steadicam shots from 33 movies and 4 tv-shows.
Here is what Wright says about his process to select which shots to put:
“I was inspired to make this homage to the art of steadicam cinematography when browsing the database of “top” clips over at steadishots.org, which are rated by the community. After locating what sources I could from the top 50 or so, I decided to stick with the order presented on the site (accurate as of March 1, 2013)”
Directors such as Martin Scorsese, Joe Wright, Stanley Kubrick, Quentin Tarantino, David Fincher, all known for their affinity with steadicam shots, and along with many others, are present in this once again well-edited homage:
