Cinefix Top 12 Long Takes Ever Filmed And The Anecdotes That Come With Them
Everybody love long takes and there has been many articles here about them, from Paul Thomas Anderson and his steadicam shot signature to Alfonso Cuaron‘s memorable Children of Men and its many long takes, and let’s not forget The Art of Steadicam, Larry Wright‘s beautiful homage that was shared by everybody running a site about film.
So, it might seem like everything has been done and said when it comes to it. Cinefix shared their TOP 12 Long Takes Ever Filmed, and what makes their video worth watching and, obviously, sharing, is that they don’t show the full long takes but instead extract of it along with interesting anecdotes as to how these said long takes were shot.
I appreciated that Cinefix’s list was much more varied than many. A lot of comments point out to additional long takes that should have make the cut (Russian Ark, Old Boy, Irreversible) and argue that the ‘cheated long take’ shouldn’t have been part of it. I will just point out to the latest long take I’ve seen and really enjoyed: The Place Beyond the Pines opening scene, that rendered beautifully on a big screen with its lights changes and background sounds.
