Join the MUSE Program and Better Your Storytelling Skills in 8 Proven Steps
The camera doesn’t make the storyteller. We all know it, but it’s much easier to get obsessed with the latest equipments and softwares than to work on the intricate and magical art of storytelling.
The good news is that Stillmotion, the 5-Time Emmy-Award winning team of filmmakers is opening the doors to MUSE, the online program they’ve created to help filmmakers tell better stories, focusing on the art of storytelling.
I have had the opportunity to get an early access to MUSE, I received their toolbox, and talked with the Stillmotion team, and I can say that MUSE is the first program about storytelling for filmmakers that delivers exactly what it claims to offer: practical, precise, and tested tools to tell better stories.
So What’s MUSE Exactly?
MUSE is an online program that teaches you the 8 steps the Stillmotion team has developed to tell powerful and engaging stories via films. It’s all about teaching you how to find the right character, the right angle, the right place to take your films to another level.
If you are a storyteller and you make films for clients for a living, MUSE will help you optimize your creative process so that you tell the best story possible, and will give you tools to better communicate thanks to the Client Pack, a set of well-designed documents that you can personalize and use to present your project’s milestones to your clients.
Join The Program
You can enroll into the MUSE Program. Here is what you get by doing so now:
- MUSE pilot program gives you a lifetime access to all the online content, the case studies, the tutorials, the story blueprints, the story coaches and the workbooks (sent to you by mail) for a discounted price of $497. On June 7th, the pilot program will close its doors and MUSE will officially launch again in a few months from now, with its content separated into different programs offered at a much higher price (3 to 4 times higher).
- By enrolling before June 7th into the pilot program, you will also get the Client Pack documents for free (worth $97) .
- And you will also get a chance to apply your acquired knowledge right away by creating a video and maybe win one of the three spots to join Stillmotion, all-expenses-paid, for 5 days in Uganda as they look to craft a film with One Girl about the need for girls education.
My Thoughts About MUSE
I have been a long-time fan of Stillmotion’s work because they are so dedicated to the art of storytelling and they have been so generous in sharing their knowledge over the years on their blog. Their A to Z free masterclass is still one of my favorite article and has helped me in very real ways to make better films.
MUSE takes the masterclass to another level. The program goes several steps further into deconstructing how to use storytelling to make films and, most importantly, it doesn’t dump knowledge online, it gives you a real human support thanks to the story coaches that are available to answer your questions forever. (Which is a long time when you think about it).
I feel comfortable recommending MUSE pilot program because I do think it’s a great opportunity to work on a skill that is always talked about (“It’s all about stories!!“) and yet rarely -if not never- tackled in practical ways.
I feel so comfortable recommending it that I actually became an affiliate of the MUSE program, because I do think it’s money well-spent for filmmakers and storytellers. One advice I can give you with my full heart is that if you have the money today, and feel this is a skill you’d like to really work on, you should enroll into the program that costs 1/4 of its future price, and gives you lifetime access to the whole program.
There’s another major reason why MUSE talks to me as a learning program.
I personally have a dedicated budget to enroll into paid programs and make sure I keep on learning and improving as a storyteller, a creative and an entrepreneur. In the last six months, I’ve enrolled into 2 different programs that each cost me roughly around $600, which is a big amount of money for me (I was shaking each time I clicked on the cart button).
Only one of these two programs worked for me, and that’s the one that offered access to student advisors. Internet is an amazing tool, but there’s something about being able to reach out to another human, expose your very specific problem, or asks your sometimes silly, sometimes crucial questions that I find priceless.
Being able to talk to a story coach while doing the MUSE program is the extra ingredient that I believe cements all the elements into a very strong package.
A word of caution: MUSE is not about making the work for you, but about giving you the tools and understanding to tell better stories. What that means is that you will need to work. That might sound obvious, but I wanted to make it clear. If you can’t free up time not only to watch the videos, but also do the homework, and work to test and apply the concepts, this is not for you.
The video below is a great recap of everything MUSE is, and you can also go on their website for more information (including check the FAQ):

Each time someone enrolls, Stillmotion donates to One Girl Uganda, providing one week education for a girl in Sierra Leone. I thought it would be nice for you to know that MUSE is connected to something bigger than simply offering an online program. It’s also about making differences in the real world.
